The Tale of the Last Tree
by Nimdee Books
Every evening the young trees gather at the roots of the last great tree in the forest, and every evening she tells them a tale of times past: the drought, the flood, the elephant summer. Then the Wind arrives with news of an orange circle painted on her trunk, and the Elder tells her last tale, the one that has not happened yet. A quiet, hopeful picture book about the smallest tree, who carries the story on.
Editor's note
The tree in this story is an odum, the Twi name for iroko, a large hardwood of the forests of West Africa. The elephants and hornbills in the pictures are animals of the same forests.
